The Home Grown String Band – Saturday, November 3 at 1:30 PM
The Homegrown String Band’s unique sound is rooted in the tradition of the rural string and jug bands that recorded during the 1920s and ‘30s, but is also very much influenced by the blues, bluegrass, jazz, and rock ’n roll that has been added to the melting pot of American music. The band’s program of acoustic music includes unique interpretations of traditional material, as well as the original music they have created themselves in an effort to keep this great tradition alive. Experience the power and joy of music made by a real family band using an assortment of traditional acoustic instruments including guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, banjo ukulele, mountain dulcimer, and harmonica.
The family has been performing together for twenty-one years, and has presented programs at over 300 libraries, as well as theaters and festivals, around the country, from The National Theatre in Washington DC to the Festival of American Music in Branson MO.
