Have you ever looked at a painting and wished you could understand it more? This lecture serves as a guide to basic visual analysis. We will review some of the more common symbols and tropes seen in western painting. This lecture provides examples and practice in visual and contextual analysis while examining a variety of artworks. Join us in unpacking these paintings, improving our visual literacy, and increasing our appreciation of art!
About the Presenter: Mallory Mortillaro is an art historian and educator. She has ten years of teaching experience, and has worked on various art research projects for museums and organizations in the New York metropolitan area. She studied at Drew University. Mallory resides in New Jersey with her husband.
